About

Our group has played DND since (and in some cases) before the 1980s and have evolved from 1st Edition D&D, AD&D, 2nd Edition AD&D, 2nd Edition AD&D Skills and Powers, 3rd Edition D&D, and finally from a D&D perspective version 3.5 D&D. We have also played Call of Cthulhu, SLA Industries, Star Wars, Traveller, Cyberpunk amongst others. One of our group, Hans van der Hoven, introduced us to Pathfinder 1e and having compared it to 4th edition D&D we concluded that Pathfinder was a better fit for how we like to play and have never looked back! Pathfinder 2e was quite the change and so far most of us have really embraced it. We are still playing some Pathfinder 1e primarily to conclude long-running campaigns as the conversion is too much of a wrench for mid to high-level characters for us. However, I am currently running two Age of Ashes campaigns on alternate Wednesday evenings and this has created an interesting dynamic and a little competitiveness and rivalry! I run this on Foundry using Discord for our social interaction and this has worked even better than I had hoped. I use DungeonDraft when I cannot get suitable maps from the vast array of content online Pathfinder 2e has enough of the complexity and depth for us from PF1 but has smoothed out a lot of the rough edges too meaning that the games run smoothly even as we learn how to run and play it on the fly. Paizo have done a great job of balancing the game system meaning that (unless you are a serious min-maxer) it allows you to create the character you want without affecting your viability and usefulness to your party. It also seems much more accessible to the younger generation and my teenage son for one will only play PF2 now!
